  1. "We are raising only consumers instead of creators" wow!!

  2. This is so beautiful. I want to teach all the children about computers now as well.

  3. I wish I had a teacher like that in kindergarden. I love the way you narrated you way through this real life tests and experiences of trying to make kids see the real world with another set of eyes. The eyes of makers!!!

  4. "Still hungry" > "Yes" > "Say Thank you"

  5. Linda is the author and illustrator of Hello Ruby, a children’s picture book about the whimsical world of computers, as well as the founder of Rails Girls, a global movement to teach young women programming in over 260 cities. She loves Muji, Zelda Fitzgerald, software and sparkly things.

  6. <!–I am an artist, not a programmer –>

  7. How programing start for me : 'Hello World'

  8. I'm 72 and I was a System Analyst / Programmer for 35 years.

  9. Just looking at her makes me happy😃

  10. Only if I had even
    one teacher with her attitude…

  11. This is a dramatic lecture. Totally liked it. The most unique way of describing a computer and what constitutes it, where it all started from, where it is heading towards, impact on humanity and so many tales.

  12. is there a mistake in the flowchart at 12:44, "yes" and "no" must be reversed right?

  18. Sam Hyde had a great Ted talk on this.

  19. Is everyone sleeping in the audience?
She is amazing Passionate about programming. And I like her smily face while explaining all this .😎
Thanks TEDx . And also Thanks YouTube for making possible to watch such wonderful video..

  20. If this type of audience i had, i wouldn't be able to complete my presentation.

  21. She is a great story teller and computer poet 🙂 I love her energy. As an educator, I want to be able to transmit the kids this enthusiasm for programming. We need to approach new technology from a place of curiosity, wonder and desire to understand and discover, not from fear. Wonder is what makes the world so interesting. Fear is paralyzing kids, making talent and the joy of life go away. I hope we can make them understand reality, imagine another one and create it. No more kids in fear. We need more people like her.

  22. Lotta simps in the comments eh?

  23. Never trust redheads. They'll do crazy things, like create fan pages for Al Gore.

  24. I noticed that she is keeping her smile throughout the whole video. That's great.

  25. Watching this hurt's my cheeks
