Flutter is a site-specific, multi-sensory, multi-media efficiency piece that premiered within the Otago Museum Tropical Rainforest on November twenty ninth 2014.

This piece is a musical reflection of my preliminary response to experiencing the Tropical Rainforest with my household early in 2014. Ongoing visits to the area proceed to encourage me – this surprising oasis in the midst of Dunedin populated by these magical floating creatures. Flutter marks my first journey into multi-sensory efficiency as a composer. I’ve been repeatedly concerned within the creation of multi-media works that develop the sight and sound of an expertise – however the creation of this work that additionally engages really feel, odor and style has been a particularly rewarding one.

Multi-sensory work.
Sight: musicians, dancers, lights, video, a whole bunch of butterflies
Sound: the music. (and a waterfall)
Really feel: strolling across the very humid room.
Odor: the odor of an enclosed rainforest.
Style: 3 custom-flavoured macarons from The Tart Tin to correspond with the three sections of the piece.
(inexperienced: lime and lemongrass | purple: strawberry and chilli | blue: blueberry and white chocolate)

It was nice to have the ability to work with numerous world-class performers and crew on the creation of this presentation, and it’s an honour to have their expertise, ardour and vitality dedicated to this efficiency, and serving to me to pursue this loopy thought.
